Raquel Sanchez, Program Coordinator

Raquel Sanchez is a 2003 graduate of Nyack College where she was awarded All American NAIA. She graduated from North Rockland High School and won a New York State Championship title in 1996 and made First Team All State in 1998. Playing for The Raider Volleyball Club allowed her the opportunity to go to Nationals and travel the United States. She was awarded the MVP award for GEVA in the 16& under devision and her team placed 2nd in the East Coast Championships in the 17& under divison.
Before she accepted the position as Coach of the Women's Volleyball team at Nyack College in 2008, Coach Sanchez coached at Tappan Zee High School for 4 years and led the Varsity Volleyball team to sectionals from 2005-2007. She continues to coach high school volleyball for Alpha Gamma where she is currently the program coordinator.
Coach Sanchez currently plays in leagues in the area and in June of 2008 she was extended an invitation to travel with a team to Nationals held in Atlanta, GA. They Placed First in the Co-ed Division and Raquel was awarded the All Tournament Team Award.
The Nyack College Volleyball team has won the CACC Team Sportsmanship award 6 years in a row and we are excited to coach and be a positive influence in the lives of volleyball players in our area.

Bret Shaffer, Assistant Coach

Bret Shaffer has been around the sport of volleyball since his freshman year of high school in 1996.  During his 4 year varsity career with the Patriots of Wayne Hills High School, he was a senior captain and was named to both all county and all state teams.  Along with volleyball, he played varsity soccer for 2 years and was a 4 year varsity letter recipient and captain of the bowling team.  Since his graduation in 1999, he has been playing in GEVA for a Men’s BB team.  From 2004-2008, he competed in Atlanta, Denver, and Austin for the Adult Club Championships.  In Atlanta, GA in 2008 he won a gold medal with his team in the Regular Co-Ed Division.

 

He began his coaching career 2 years ago as an assistant coach with Alpha Gamma and this year he comes back for his second full season with the club.  Most recently he was the assistant coach for the Nyack College Lady Warriors.

 

Outside of volleyball Bret was a graduate of Lincoln Technical Institute in 2001 with a degree in Architectural Drafting.  He works as a project coordinator for Pella Windows and Doors in West Caldwell, NJ. 

  

Adrien Fletcher, Head Coach

Adrien Fletcher hails from the great state of Michigan where she was a 4-year Varsity starter in basketball, softball and volleyball in high school.  She was co-captain of her volleyball team 2 years and Conference MVP her senior year.

She achieved softball All-State Pitcher 2 years in a row.

 

While attending Michigan State University, she played intramural volleyball before graduating with honors in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Packaging Engineering.  Adrien currently plays on two softball teams and pick up volleyball.

 

For 7 years Adrien has been helping younger athletes improve.  She has helped with multiple softball, basketball and volleyball clinics and camps, coached a 14 and under travel softball team for 3 years in Michigan and 1 year in New Jersey, and been an Alpha Gamma Volleyball Club practice coach for 3 years. 

 

Samantha Friday, Practice Coach

17's Sigma 
Samantha Friday is with Alpha Gamma for her third season of coaching. She has just finished playing her senior year of volleyball for Nyack College. At Nyack College, Samantha has completed many successful seasons. Her freshman year she was top five of her conferences in service ace percentage and her junior year she finished seventh in assists for the CACC conference. Prior to being recruited to Nyack College, Samantha played for four years at Fox Chapel High School in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.

 Kerianne Dudley is a 2007 graduate from Nanuet Senior High School where she played varsity for 4 years. She was the captain for three years, put on the All-League team two times and named team MVP her senior year. She currently is in her junior year at Dominican College where she plays volleyball. She was recently put on the All-Conference Team for the 2009 playoffs. This is her first season coaching with Alpha Gamma and looks forward to having a great experience.

Kristina started playing volleyball her freshman year of high school. She played varsity for 3 of the 4 yrs. Her jounior and senior year she played club. She played on the 18s team. For HS she was a setter/right side. Her first year in club she played right side and her second year was a DS/L. Kristina just finished her 1st college season, playing Libero at the College of New Rochelle. CNR won the confenrence and was undefeated in the league, as well as the championship. She was All-league player for her jounior year of high school and honorable mention for her senior year. She was Captain of her high school team and was an All Conference player at CNR.
