Re: Sponsorship for Alpha Gamma Junior Olympic Volleyball Club

As the sponsorship coordinator of Alpha Gamma Junior Olympic Volleyball Club, I wondered if your company would be interested in financially helping some of our athletes compete in Baltimore at the Northeast Qualifier and at Pittsburgh in the East Coast Junior Olympic Volleyball Championships.

Alpha Gamma is a non-profit organization whose objective is to give girls the opportunity to play Junior-Olympic level volleyball. The typical high school athlete that resides in the lower Westchester region is not able to join a travel level volleyball program often due to financial reasons. The travel clubs in Westchester are currently charging between $2,400 and $3,200 for a season. They also operate out of gymnasiums that are only available if your family can drop you off and pick you up by automobile. By using a gymnasium that many of these players are use to playing in, Alpha Gamma can offer these girls the opportunity to play for under $2,000. For that price, each player receives an opportunity to advance her own game and bring her local high school volleyball team to a more competitive level of play. This is achieved by having her compete for more of an extended season than the eight weeks that they are use to. This opportunity allows her to compete in a variety of tournaments, many times meeting players from across the country.

Many of these players are the first of their family to contemplate going to college. Other players will be the first in their family to have a shot at competing athletically for scholarships. With college on their minds and volleyball in their hearts, many of these athletes are hoping to play on an intercollegiate team in the future. Competing in these tournaments will give college scouts across our nation a chance to see them play in one of the most competitive atmospheres.

Though the athletes are willing to put in the time and work to play at this level, many of them fear they will have to quit because they are not able to pay for the entry fees into the tournaments, hotel or dorm accommodations, uniforms, etc.

I am writing to you in hopes that your company will be able to help us offer these athletes an opportunity that they fear is slipping through their fingers. Your sponsorship of our volleyball team would not only raise your company’s profile amongst over hundreds of potential customers, but grant opportunities to athletes that really need and will appreciate your financial involvement in their futures.
